Lake Erie Fishing In Full Swing

http://OUTDOORS: Lake Erie provides ‘seashore’ escape for Pennsylvania anglers

I had an opportunity to visit Erie and get a tour of some of the fishing available on Presque Isle. If you have never gone to “Pennsylvania’s Seashore” take the time and go this summer.  There is a lot to do and a lot to experience.

You can troll for walleyes (charters are available) or fish from shore. Bass, perch and steelhead round out the list. You might find sheepshead, lakers, white bass and other panfish. Photo051

I highly recommend the Avonia Tavern as a stop for some of the best wings in Pennsylvania. The Cork in Northeast offers some great fine dining to the east of the city in Northeast. The wineries are world class. The fishing is outstanding. The people are friendly – especially if you wear Pirates, Steelers or Penguins gear. It is a great place for a mini-vacation.

  1. Lake Erie is always a beautiful spot! It really is an underrated gem of a travel destination. We recently booked a vacation spot on the lakefront for October and hope to see some of the fall colors come alive!
